The Civilware Striker was design inspired by the hand-made knives of legendary Houndsman Ben Lilly. The Striker's shape with its recurve, pronounced belly and pointed tip make up a blade that is ready for most tasks. The straight handle is neutral, comfortable in multiple positions and full in the hand. Comes standard with a black Kydex sheath.
Ben Lilly was one of the last true mountain men. Growing up in the Canebrakes of Louisiana at the turn of the century Ben garnered a reputation as an incredible outdoorsman with a legendary sense of direction, he preferred foot hunting for the stealth and quiet approach, believing that it gave him 'the edge' over his quarry. Whereas the West specialized in six shooters, the south was known for knives and at the time was one of the most violent areas in the U.S. Jim Bowie famous for cold steel in Louisiana and the infamous ‘Bowie knife’ was responsible for the bloodiest knife design in U.S. history, but Ben preferred his own designs and the ‘Lilly Knife’ having grown up in a family of blacksmiths. He made knives from old files, eccentrically shaped in accordance with his own eccentricities, he tempered his knives in panther oil and preferred no metal guard. he wanted the blade sharp on both edges from tip to haft, so that if it got inside a bear or anything else for that matter, it would cut in any direction he pulled or twisted.
